For the past eight months, the STL Line 13 has been running from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 14:00 in the Mühlental. The Swiss Transit Lab is now testing an extension of operating hours to the evening in January 2024. Rhyder will also be in operation from 8 to 20 January between 19:00 and 22:00.

In contrast to the operating times at lunchtime, there will be no fixed timetable in the evenings. The bus will be waiting at the station Bahnhof Nord and will take passengers to the Stahlgiesserei if required. This is the first step towards an on-demand service: operations are no longer based on predefined journey times, but on demand. This is in line with Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) and places a stronger focus on the needs of users. This results in a closer link between private and public transport, which ultimately leads to a more efficient and sustainable use of resources.

The evening service is primarily aimed at residents in the Mühlental, who should benefit from the additional bus service on their way home. After two weeks of testing, the Swiss Transit Lab and the accompanying persons will draw a conclusion and examine further on-demand options.
